Statement from Emerge Massachusetts on Boston City Council District 6 Race
The strength of Emerge Massachusetts’ programs lies in the diversity of the incredible 400 women we have trained. We prioritize diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) training in all of our programs and incorporate DE&I principles into all aspects of our work. We condemn racist imagery, language or tropes being used in any campaigns, and we were particularly discouraged to see a racist mailer being distributed by an alum. We are committed to training candidates to run inclusive, antiracist campaigns. We will use this moment to continue to refine our DE&I training for future classes and believe it is equally important to acknowledge and reject racism when we see it.
